I came into Blue Turtle dental about five years ago after just being told by another Dentist that I needed over $20,000 worth of work and she still couldn’t guarantee that my teeth could get fixed. I was devastated. I heard about Blue Turtle dental and specifically Dr. Alex Yen and came to see him. I have had an ongoing relationship with Dr. Yen now and he is the kindest most detail orientated Dentist I have ever met. His reception staff, Laura, and Alp are also extremely kind and work very hard to get you in as soon as possible if you have a dental emergency. I have recommended over 10 people to come see any Dentist at Blue Turtle dental and will continue to do so. You will not find a better dental experience anywhere else in Palo Alto, or at the Redwood City branch . I feel like I’m family when I come to visit them, and I no longer have an extreme fear of dentists. I now live a life comfortable with my teeth and that is priceless

The best dental practice I've been to. Came here to fill in my cavities and the dentists here did it with great care. Any follow up work relating to it was done promptly. My dad needed help with dentures and the dentists here gladly took him in as a patient. My dad also said that they were the best dentists he's ever had. Alex is an amazing dentist that is highly detail oriented, patient, kind, and informative. Blue Turtle Dental has been a fantastic dental family practice since we first came to it when Dr. Scheel owned it. Now, under Dr. Yen, the practice has extended their high standard of care. The key behind this is of course the care team. Every single person who works at Blue Turtle Dental is extremely capable and friendly. Starting with Jenny, Blue Turtle’s practice manager, whose effectiveness and kindness is unparalleled. She has helped me and my family coordinate our dental care, accommodating complex scheduling requests, handling insurance claims and otherwise working through options to make sure our needs are met. Between Jenny, Hellen and Jianing on the front desk, you have a proactive and extremely organized team to help you manage your appointments and feel comfortable with your dental care. Dr. Munnazah, our family dentist, is superbly competent. She has a no nonsense, knowledge-based approach to dental care and we trust her fully with it. She has also been amazing and empathetic with the dental care of our children. We love the fact that the practice is always on top of our preventive care, and in that sense, I can’t say enough about Blue Turtle’s team of hygienists. Khalid is awesome and my kids won’t do their cleaning unless it is him who does it. Same goes for Zahra who’s been fantastic and always ready to share tips on oral care. We have been going to Blue Turtle Dental for more than 6 years and couldn’t be happier to have found the best practice for all of our family’s dental needs.

Message their office manager, Jenny, and she can efficiently book a slot. Dr. M worked on replacing an old crown and didn't stop until it was perfect. I came here to get a deep cleaning and have two silver fillings removed and replaced with white ones (about 2.5h hrs). I received 5 shots (I’m personally terrified of needles), but barely felt them as Khalid did an amazing job in calming me and making sure I was comfortable the entire time. He did an very thorough job at cleaning my gums, answering all my questions and kept me informed of what to expect in this process. Since I was getting shots anyways for the deep cleaning, Jenny recommended I might as well get my fillings done at the same time so that I didn’t have to get more shots (very smart and considerate of her), the filling extraction and replacement took maybe 40 minutes? I couldn’t really tell because I kept my eyes closed the whole time and actually fell asleep at one point, that’s how gentle and reassuring they were! I highly recommend the Blue Turtle team for any of your dental needs!

I chipped a tooth and turned out I needed quite a bit of work done. Their office manager, Jenny Pan, is a very capable and warm person. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was relaxed and comfortable before my appointments. Also, she would send me text messages to follow up and make sure I am recovering well. If I have any questions, she will respond promptly. As for Dr. Alex Yen, he is very attentive. I have brought to his attention that I have been having difficulties flossing for many years. When Dr. Yen looked and noticed 4 of my molars (2 on each side) were pressed together as if they were fused together, he performed a dental procedure called Odontoplasty (shaved and reshaped my impacted molars to give them some space). I am surprised such procedure existed. I have brought up my difficulties with flossing my back molars with previous dentists each year. Yet, none of my previous dentists has taken the initiative to address my concerns. Now, I can floss without any difficulties. Thank you, Dr. Yen!! I would recommend Blue Turtle Dental to anyone who wants an attentive dentist and team.

The staff here is absolutely excellent. My 5 year old is a naturally shy and somewhat worried guy, and they made him feel so welcome and comfortable. He had a baby tooth cavity so gnarly that they had to remove it rather than fill it, and not only were they so great with him, but I felt 0 shame as a parent about this, and I think that's pretty huge, too. We've seen other dentists in the past but have *never* felt this great after leaving. We mainly reside in Sacramento but we will be using Blue Turtle Dental exclusively moving forward. If that doesn't show you how obsessed we are, I don't know what will! I really can't recommend this place more.

I came to Dr. Scheel's practice in early 2018 when my insurance changed. I had an ongoing issue with a bridge that needed to be replaced. Dr. Schell quickly got up to speed on ther problem and advised a sound course of action. Through two implants, a root canal and a crown replacement, she worked effectively with my endodontist and periodontist and led the restoration once the implants were in place. Dr. Scheel is not just a dentist. She is a craftsperson who takes pride in her work and does the job right. I'm delighted with both the process and the results. Dr. Scheel and her team are friendly, knowledgeable, and let you know what's coming every step of the way. For routine care or heavy lifting, I highly recommend them.

I and my family are patients at Blue Turtle. I am extremely satisfied with the quality of service. They take great care to make every bit of the process as user-friendly and effective as possible. Dr. Scheel is fantastic at her work--she is particularly good at explaining issues/procedures and presenting what feels like a truly unbiased opinion. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and professional. I also took my kids for check-ups (ages 8, 6, 5). When we arrived, a Disney movie was playing in the waiting room in anticipation of our arrival (thoughtful). The kids continued the movie on personal screens during their checkups. Upon leaving, my 5 year-old asked, "When can we go to the dentist again?"--this was a much different experience than 6 months earlier at our old dentist (nightmare). Definitely recommend this office. The best dental practice I've been to. Came here to fill in my cavities and the dentists here did it with great care. Any follow up work relating to it was done promptly. My dad needed help with dentures and the dentists here gladly took him in as a patient. My dad also said that they were the best dentists he's ever had. I came into Blue Turtle dental about five years ago after just being told by another Dentist that I needed over $20,000 worth of work and she still couldn’t guarantee that my teeth could get fixed. I was devastated. I heard about Blue Turtle dental and specifically Dr. Alex Yen and came to see him. I have had an ongoing relationship with Dr. Yen now and he is the kindest most detail orientated Dentist I have ever met. His reception staff, Laura, and Alp are also extremely kind and work very hard to get you in as soon as possible if you have a dental emergency.
