Invisalign are clear plastic aligners that are virtually transparent and can be removed during meals and cleaning. Your dentist will place a new set of aligners every two weeks to correct most simple alignment issues.
Traditional braces, on the other hand, are adhered to your teeth for the entire duration of treatment and are removed by your orthodontist at the end of the treatment period. These do require some food and drink restriction but work very well in correcting most bite and alignment issues.
Childhood is the optimum time to get braces, but the American Association of Orthodontists says that one out of five orthodontic patients are adults. It may take a little longer to fix an orthodontic problem as an adult, but poor tooth alignment can cause many problems that make the time spent wearing braces worth it.
Remember that Invisalign is suitable for simple alignment issues. More complicated alignment issues may require traditional braces.
