Relief Starts Here

Wisdom teeth don't always cause problems right away — but when they do, the pain and pressure can be hard to ignore. Removal is one of the most common dental procedures we perform, and for good reason. Catching it early prevents infections, crowding, and bigger complications down the road. Our team will walk you through exactly what to expect before anything is scheduled.

What Is A Wisdom Tooth Removal?

And how does it work?

Wisdom tooth removal is a procedure used to extract one or more of your third molars—the teeth at the very back of your mouth. These teeth often don’t have enough space to grow in properly, which can lead to crowding, impaction (teeth stuck below the surface), infection, or damage to nearby teeth.

In many cases, wisdom teeth are removed before they cause serious problems, especially if they’re likely to become impacted or difficult to clean.

At Blue Turtle Dental, we evaluate your situation carefully and only recommend removal when it’s necessary for your long-term oral health.

Why It's Important To Remove Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth that aren't removed at the right time tend to create bigger problems down the road — infections, crowding, and damage to surrounding teeth. Removal is a straightforward procedure that protects everything else.

1.

Prevent pain, swelling, and infection

2.

Avoid damage to nearby teeth

3.

Reduce the risk of crowding or shifting

4.

Make it easier to maintain oral hygiene

5.

Address problems before they become more serious

Do You Need A Wisdom
Tooth Removal?

Wisdom tooth removals are typically
recommended if you:

- Have pain or pressure in the back of your mouth
- Notice swelling, tenderness, or infection around a wisdom tooth
- Have impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth
- Were told your wisdom teeth may cause problems in the future

Even if you’re not currently in pain, removal may be recommended to prevent complications later on.

Process

When Waiting Is Okay

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out. If yours have fully erupted, are properly aligned, and are easy to keep clean, monitoring them over time may be all that's needed. We'll let you know honestly if that's the case.

Process

Don't Wait Too Long

If a wisdom tooth is impacted, partially erupted, or difficult to reach with a toothbrush, the risk of infection, decay, and damage to surrounding teeth goes up over time. In most cases, the earlier it's addressed, the simpler the procedure and the easier the recovery.

Process

How We Help You Decide

There's no one-size-fits-all answer with wisdom teeth. During your exam, we'll take a close look at your X-rays, assess the position of your wisdom teeth, and give you a clear recommendation — so you're never left guessing about what to do next.
