Doctor Scheel takes great pride in restoring the luster that’s been lost from a patient’s smile over the years. Helping our patients regain the confidence in their smiles is our primary goal. From a child’s first dentist appointment to senior dental care, the staff at Blue Turtle Dental can help maintain and improve the oral health of all of our patients. We use modern technology and techniques to ensure every patient receives the most advanced oral care available. If you’re looking for a caring and compassionate dentist in Palo Alto, Dr. Scheel and our staff have you covered. Our services include:

Preventative Dental Care

Brushing and flossing daily rank as the two most important habits for protecting the long-term health of your teeth and gums. However, receiving regular preventative dental care also plays a critical role in preventing the development of tooth decay and gum disease – the leading cause of adult tooth loss. Scheduling regular dental checkups and cleanings allows Dr. Scheel to examine your oral health and spot any signs of disease or decay early on while the issues are still easily treatable. It also provides the opportunity to remove tartar buildup from the surface of your teeth.

Avoiding the dentist and neglecting the health of your teeth can cause serious oral health problems to develop that could require expensive and potentially uncomfortable dental procedures to correct. Make sure you give your oral health the attention it deserves before problems develop. At Blue Turtle Dental, we use digital x-rays, fluoride treatments, and state-of-the-art equipment to keep you smiling brightly for years to come. Don’t wait, schedule your next dental checkup and cleaning today!

Sedation Dentistry

Many people are nervous or anxious about dental procedures because of previous traumatic experiences. For these patients, we offer oral conscious sedation. Doctor Scheel can use oral sedation for patients undergoing treatments that range from invasive procedures to routine dental cleanings. How sedation is used depends on the patient and his or her level of level of dental anxiety.

Sedation dentistry involves the use of medication that helps patients feel relaxed during dental procedures. While occasionally referred to as “sleep dentistry,” patients typically stay awake throughout the procedure. At Blue Turtle Dental, Dr. Scheel uses oral sedation, which can range from minimal to moderate in its effects depending on the dosage provided to the patient.

“STA” Single Tooth Anesthesia

Single Tooth Anesthesia is a computer-controlled anesthesia delivery system that provides immediate, pain-free dental anesthesia for all injection types. This technology is revolutionizing dental anesthesia by taking away the pain, anxiety, and stress associated with conventional syringes.  With STA, there is no collateral numbness in your cheeks, lips, or tongue, so you can speak clearly and comfortably immediately after your procedure.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great way to help create a beautiful smile by replacing missing or lost teeth. Doctor Scheel can help you choose the right implant for you needs. Titanium dental implants are placed into the bone of your jaw through minor surgery. These implants create an anchor for the dentist to attach a denture, bridge, or crown. After completion, most patients cannot tell the difference between an implant and their regular teeth.

Children’s Dental Services

To help our younger patients avoid the dangers of tooth decay, Dr. Scheel can apply dental sealants to the surface of their teeth to lower their risk of cavities. Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating usually applied to a patient’s back molars to prevent tooth decay. The sealant bonds to teeth and creates an impenetrable shield that prevents harmful bacteria from reaching the surface of the patient’s teeth.

While brushing and flossing help to remove food and harmful bacteria from the surface of teeth, they cannot always reach the small grooves on the biting surface to remove the plaque and food particles that linger in these areas. Sealants protect the vulnerable grooves of the tooth by “sealing” out food and plaque.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening has quickly become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed by dentists today. Doctor Scheel can return your teeth to the shade you desire after just a few treatments using quick and painless whitening methods. You’ll be amazed at the difference whitening can make to your confidence and overall appearance of your smile.
